Mental Health Issues in the COVID-19 Pandemic and Responses in Bangladesh: View Point of Media Reporting

Background: The negative impact of COVID-19 on mental health has been reported by media throughout the world, although this role is not well-understood in low-and middle-income countries (LMIC). We examined reporting issues during pandemic Bangladesh and initiatives undertaken to support from viewpoint media. Methods: reviewed articles published 10 local newspapers, including seven Bangla three English first year pandemic. News topics were identified through discussions among team members, with searches across online newspapers portals. Data extrapolated documented an Excel spreadsheet. A mixed-method approach was used following a framework analysis for analyzing data. Recurring commonly emerging generated Descriptive statistics applied quantitative Results: Between March 2020 2021, we have 201 reports 45 (22.4%) focused stress due associated financial crisis, unemployment loneliness, 50 (24.9%) 80 apparent suicides linked family issues, disharmony conjugal relationships, harassment, sexual violence, emotional breakdown, stigma COVID-19.There 77 (38.3%) concerning domestic violence Twenty-nine (14.4%) referenced actions taken different organizations address response Bangladesh. Conclusion: coverage scope highlight important that can emerge as consequence COVID-pandemic, such health, low resource setting. Capacity building way report emergency situations could be useful strategy more credible raising awareness public policymakers about consequences Adopting policies essential care promoting take timely measures will imperative averting
